More about Camp Springs
According to locals, Camp Springs, NC got its name from British troops camping there in 1781.  In August 1969, Carlton Haney moved his “Original Blue Grass Music Festival” from Roanoke, Virginia to Camp Springs and named it “Blue Grass Park.”  Some of the largest bluegrass festivals were held there until Labor Day weekend in 1977.  Other events took place there until the late 1980’s.
