In the fall of 2009, John Randolph stepped away from the East Texas Southern Gospel group that he had been singing with to follow a calling. For the past year, once a month, Randolph and guests have been bringing his message to the diners at the Mabank Cafe.
The Mabank Cafe is a down-home family restaurant in the heart of beautiful downtown Mabank. The restaurant is a simple way to remind people of life in a small town.
Randolph, the 2013 Christian Country Music Horizon Award Winner, had bigger plans. A large part of John’s focus moving into a new year is seeking ministry opportunities in and outside of churches where he can share this message of faith.
“Born out of a picture that God placed on my heart at the end of 2014, ‘Music With A Message – A Night of Friends, Faith and Family’ – is not your traditional concert setting,” said Randolph. “Held in Mabank at the Mabank Cafe, it is meant to have a lot less of a concert feel, and more of a couple of guys sitting in your living room sharing the stories behind some of today’s best inspirational country songs.”
On March 4, Randolph will welcome award-winning artist Tim
Menzies to the Mabank Cafe to celebrate Music With A Message’s 1-year anniversary at the cafe.
During the late 1980s, through today, Tim has been one of the premier songwriters in Nashville with songs recorded by Joe Diffie, Mark Chestnutt, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers, John Conlee, Gene Watson, Shenandoah, Doug Stone, Diamond Rio, Tracy Lawrence, Shelby Lynn, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Rick Trevino, Randy Travis, Patty Loveless, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, Josh Turner and many others.
Menzies (also known as Tim Mensy) has been known for writing songs such as Reba McEntire’s “Love Needs a Holiday,” Mark Chesnutt’s “I Just Wanted You to Know,” Doug Stone’s “I Thought It Was You,” Trisha Yearwood’s “Nearest Distant Shore,” among many others.
Menzies is back with his debut Christian record, “His Way of Loving Me.”
The singer-songwriter has received recognition for the largest song registration in the world – BMI. BMI has over 3 million works registered, and less than 2,000 of those songs have received the coveted “Million Air Award.” This is an award that is given to the songwriters of a song that has garnered over 1 million radio and/or television performances, which is equal to about 50,000 broadcast hours or 5.7 years of continuous play. Menzies has received two “Million Air Awards.”
Make your reservations immediately to be a part of the official One Year Anniversary Celebration of John Randolph’s “Music with a Message – A Night of Friends, Faith and Family” at the Mabank Cafe.
